Redwood Valley burn pile fire engulfs outbuilding

The Pine Fire as seen from an AlertCaliforna camera

A burn pile that escaped control sparked a vegetation fire Monday afternoon at 8000 Pinecrest Drive in Redwood Valley, prompting a multi-agency response.

Scanner traffic indicated the incident, referred to as the Pine Fire, was reported around 1:50 p.m. and, according to the incident commander, had grown to approximately 1/4 acre with one outbuilding involved.

By 2:06 p.m., the forward progress of the vegetation fire had been stopped, and crews began work to extinguish the outbuilding.

  1. Pretty sure burn season came & went? Either way, its completely dry out, the winds were gusty the last few days & everyone know about fire danger. This is gross negligence if you ask me. Hope there’s a hefty fine involved.

  2. Was the person arrested and charged? yesterday (June 23, 2025) was not a burn day in Mendocino County. Sunday, June 22, 2025 was the last permissive burn day, according to Mendocino County (.gov). Burning is currently suspended in all State Responsibility Areas (SRA), according to CAL FIRE Burn Permits (.gov). Of course they weren’t! A multi agency response for a criminally started fire. Tax money wasted. They should be arrested and fined. Why have laws if the county and fire department doesn’t enforce them? They must have friends in high places. I guess it’s not a big deal until millions of dollars in peoples homes burn down or people die. This is the first of hundreds of illegal burns and vegetation fires we have to look forward to thanks to the lawless leaders of this county.
