
A fast-moving wildfire dubbed the Cache Fire has broken out in Lake County near Walker Ridge, burning an estimated 5 acres so far with no containment reported.
Strong winds are pushing flames downhill, sparking multiple spot fires, according to scanner traffic. Air crews on scene warned the fire has the potential to explode to 100 acres in short order. Two additional Type 1 tankers have been requested.
Smoke is clearly visible on ALERTCalifornia wildfire cameras. Ground and air resources are en route.
UPDATE 2:32 p.m.: Firefighters say the blaze is being kept in check on both sides — Ridge Road is stopping it on the right, and fire retardant drops are holding it back on the left.
3:38 p.m. update: The fire has burned 9.75 acres and is no longer spreading. Fire crews have it about 20% under control, according to radio traffic.

As of 3:15 pm 6/24/2025 this 10 acre fire at Hwy 20 and Cache Creek Road is 20% contained, forward progress stopped. This is, of course, subject to future wind and developments. Hoping for the best.
