In One Week, Mendocino County Sees 30.3% Decrease in Active COVID-19 Patients

📍 The total amount of COVID-19 positive tests has increased by 10.4% since last Saturday, August 22, 2020.
📍In the last seven days, one additional Mendocino County death has been attributed to COVID-19.
📍 There has been a 30.3% decrease in the number of active COVID-19 patients in Mendocino County throughout the last week.

County Revises Shelter-in Place Order: Barbers & Salons Allowed to Reopen Indoors and Local School Waivers Approved

Major changes in the SIP Order included:

-Hair Salon and barbershops can open indoors
-Retail establishments have a capacity restriction of 25%.
-Grocery stores have a capacity restriction of 50%.
-Indoor malls may open (except for common areas and food courts) with a maximum capacity of 25%.
-The Childcare Unit and Children’s Extracurricular Activity Unit have also been modified in accordance with new Small Cohort Guidance increasing from 12 individuals to 14 children with up to 2 supervising adults.

Public Health Announces Another COVID-19 Death; Mendocino County’s Total is Now 14

📍 There has been a death related to COVID-19 in the Ukiah area . According to Mendocino County’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sarah Dukett, the decedent is a Latino male over 60 years old.
📍11 patients were released from isolation in the last 24 hours.
📍 Currently, there are a total of 1,721 pending tests for COVID-19.

The Eighth Sherwood Oaks Patient Perishes Marking the Thirteenth COVID-19 Death in Mendocino County

📍Though the Sherwood Oaks outbreak has been contained, the virus’s initial spread amongst patients continues to cause death with an eighth death announced today by Public Health
📍Some of the noteworthy statistics include that 59.6% of cases are from the Hispanic community thought that community only makes up 25.8% of the county’s population according to the US Census Bureau. 74.9% of Mendocino County’s cases originate in the Ukiah Valley. 58.6% of the county’ positive COVID-19 cases are between the ages of 19-49.

Mendocino County Adds Two More COVID-19 Deaths Totaling 12 All Since July 1

📍With two more deaths of Mendocino County residents of COVID-19, that brings the county’s total to 12. The county has been in the grips of the pandemic since March, yet the first death occurred on July 1 meaning all 12 deaths have occurred in the last 49 days.
📍Despite theories in the community that the source of Mendocino County’s COVID-19 infections is tourism, the dashboard data makes clear that the majority of transmissions is related to close contacts (45%) while work/out of county travel accounts for a mere 5.4% of cases.
