A prescribed burn near Lake Sonoma, west of the Sonoma County town of Geyserville, has expanded beyond its containment lines. The incident is being referred to as the “Half-a-Canoe Fire”.
The blaze, which began around 1:00 p.m., was initially planned as a controlled burn but quickly grew to a 15 to 20-acre slop over, Incident Command over the scanner.
Photographs from the AlertCalifornia Fire Camera system showed a significant plume of smoke rising from the area.
Air resources were immediately requested and are currently on the scene working to control the fire. Additionally, three more water tenders have been called in to assist with the efforts.
UPDATE 1:29 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the slop over is holding at 20 acres.

Paradise was caused by faulty electric wires. So was the Redwood Valley fire in 2017. Most mass casualty fires are cause by utility companies. Even Hawaii. It’s really important to understand this.
High winds blew a tree over onto the lines which caused the redwood valley fire.
I heard the pilot and nurse for Cal Star 4 fly over the start and describe how they saw the tree fall into the lines with a giant blue explosion.
Faulty mechanical equipment did not cause the fire, a dead tree being blown over in nearly 100 mile an hour winds over that ridgetop caused the fire.
Pg and e didn’t maintain those trees even with several prior warnings. That’s why we all won the lawsuit against them. The were legally responsible
