Categories:

On August 20, 2020, Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall provided a statement to county residents regarding the realities of 17,000 California prison inmates being released to the public in light of COVID-19 related concerns.

He spoke to receiving calls from concerned citizens regarding the potential of crime as COVID-19 protocols were loosened thus increasing the number homeowners away from their properties.

To address concerns about a potential rise in property crimes, Sheriff Kendall described MCSO’s new “While You’re Away” program that would provide protocols and extra patrols to homeowners concerned about their properties.
