Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Issues Evacuations Orders Near Covelo Due to August Complex Fire

According to a tweet from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, an evacuation order has been issued southeast of the Covelo area. The tweet specifies “South of Boardman Ridge/Anthony Peak, *East of Nebo rock, *North of McCoy Ridge and *West of the Glenn County/Tehama County line with Mendocino County.”

[Note: while the area east of Covelo is the one mentioned in the tweet, the aircraft were working in the southeast and that mislead us as to the area of fire.]

Earlier today, the Mendocino National Forest reported they were working a spot fire in the area. “On the southwest corner of the Complex, firefighters will work on the spot fire in the Mendenhall Creek area Monday,” the press release stated. “This is a focal area for operations ahead of the upcoming northeast winds.”
