Two Bodies Discovered North of Round Valley; Law Enforcement Believes They Are Connected to Covelo Kidnapping

Categories:

Two dead bodies were discovered by a bystander alongside Hulls Valley Road north of Covelo this afternoon, according to Mendocino County Sheriff Office’s Public Information Officer Captain Greg Van PattenHe told us detectives are assuming the bodies are connected to two missing Covelo residents, Traci Bland and Kyle McCartney, who disappeared after a suspected kidnapping on November 19.

Captain Van Patten said that no identification of the bodies has been made at this point and due to the setting sun, deputies will be holding the scene until tomorrow when detectives can further analyze the scene.

The 2007 Gold Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Bland and McCartney has been recovered, Captain Van Patten confirmed.

Traci Bland and Kyle McCartney were said to have been attacked on November 19 after arrival at an Oak Lane property in Covelo. According to a press release published earlier today:

“The reporting party was initially uncooperative but eventually related earlier that day he was taken to an address on Oak Lane by the two missing persons.  When they arrived four unknown Hispanic or Native American suspects attacked and assaulted Kyle and Traci.  The reporting party indicated he fled and the missing persons [were] possibly kidnapped and have not been seen since Thursday November 19th, after 12:45 PM. “

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is asking to hear from “anyone with specific information related to this case. If you have any information related to this case please call the Sheriff’s Office Communications line at 707-463-4086 or the Tip line at 707-234-2100.”
