Two Men Argue at Big River Beach Resulting in the Brandishing of a Single Head Ax

Categories:

On the afternoon of Sunday, January 10, 2021 law enforcement responded to reports of two men arguing on Mendocino Coast’s Big River beach resulting in the brandishing of a gun. Upon further investigation, California State Parks Chief Ranger Loren Rex said the weapon that was brandished was, in fact, a single head ax, rather than rifle.

Chief Ranger Rex said, “The initial call was generated by a reporting party telling a Fish and Wildlife Warden the he had been in an argument with another man who had threatened him with a rifle.”

As California State Parks officers responded to the scene, Chief Ranger Rex said, “The Warden request[ed] backup and two State Parks Rangers responded to the scene.”

Upon investigating the circumstances, officers determined, “The weapon that was brandished was a single head ax rather than a rifle.”

Chief Ranger Rex said officers seperated and interviewed the parties and the victim decided to not press charges for brandishing the ax.”
