Scanner traffic around 7:00 p.m indicates that a vegetation fire on Potter Valley’s Pine Avenue is a possible threat to nearby structures. A firefighter is following the reporting party who is driving on a quad to the site of the burn pile that got out of control.
A responding firefighter said “a pretty good column and glow” can be seen as they approach the site of the fire on the 13000 block of Pine Avenue.
UPDATE 7:17 p.m.
A report on the conditions of the fire from personnel on scene described the fire as 1/4 of an acre, spreading at a slow rate, and the site of the fire is accessible by engine.
UPDATE 7:56 p.m.
A Potter Valley resident at the scene told us that Potter Valley Fire and Calfire are on the scene where the fire is under control and firefighters are deciding whether to “put it out or let it burn.”
UPDATE 8:39 p.m.
The Potter Valley resident told us the fire is fully contained and burning itself around.
The incident commander told the dispatcher the fire totaled a half acre in size, there is no more spread, and resources will be committed one more hour to control any potential spread.
