[Updates] Single Vehicle Accident on Rural Road Outside Ukiah Leaves Two Teens Wounded

At 5:45 a.m. a single vehicle went off Mill Creek Road, a rural thoroughfare east of Ukiah, and scanner traffic indicates first responders are conducting an extrication. As of 6:18 a.m., two patients have been extricated from the vehicle and two are still awaiting extrication.

The Incident Commander reports there are four patients associated with the accident including a 15-year-old suffering an open skull fracture and a 14-year-old described as “walking wounded.” One of the patients has been reportedly loaded onto gurney at this point.

The California High Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicates the vehicle is only five feet off of the roadway but pinned against a tree .

UPDATE 6:21 a.m.: An ambulance is taking patients involved with the incident to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center to be picked up by a CalStar medical helicopter.

UPDATE 6:29 a.m.: The Mill Creek Incident Commander has requested a second air ambulance.

UPDATE 6:41 a.m.: The CHP Traffic Incident Information page indicates Mill Creek Road and nearby Guideville Road have been closed as a result of this incident.

UPDATE 6:51 a.m.: Scanner traffic indicates that first responders are still attempting to cut out a patient from the vehicle and estimates another 30 minutes to do so.

UPDATE 7:12 a.m.: As per the CHP Traffic Incident Information page, one party is still in the vehicle, two have been taken to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center, and one has been medivaked as a result of their injuries.

UPDATE 7:28 a.m.: A responding ground ambulance is reporting difficulty responding to the Mill Creek Incident due to traffic blocking their passage.
