Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page indicated a full wildland fire response was initiated responding to a vegetation fire on Highway 162, the main thoroughfare between Highway 101 and Round Valley. Upon arrival, units canceled the response unable to find smoke in the area.
The dispatcher told responding units a black Dodge Ram truck had lost its wheel and the resulting collision caused a vegetation fire near milepost 9.2.
Fire resources ordered to the incident included an air attack, two air tankers, a helicopter, three fire engines, and one hand crew.
As of 3:49 p.m., the CHP Traffic Incident Information page indicates the Dodge truck suffered a blown-out right, front tire while towing a eight-foot long trailer that will require a tow truck.
All aircraft have returned to base though and firefighters have the area secure.
