Four days ago MCSO identified another Rohnert Park man, Oscar Alvarez Ruiz, as a suspect in the murder of Becerra-Almaraz. He was booked for charges of murder in the Mendocino County jail.

In the early morning of July 23, 2021, shots were reported near the 59000 block of Bell Springs Road and a neighbor, checking out the situation, found Becerra-Almaraz dead. MCSO’s Captain Greg Van Patten told us Ruiz was taken into custody after a land and air search of the property. A helicopter crew was able to successfully spot Ruiz from the air and hold him at gun point until ground forces converged on his location. The search for Ruiz also resulted in an deputy being injured.
