At approximately 2:18 p.m. a traffic collision on Highway 20 near Lake Mendocino involved several vehicle and resulted in four occupants wounded and two requiring extraction.
The California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicated traffic was “badly backing up” as a result of the traffic collision and one caller reported several cars were overturned in the roadway.
At 3:33 p.m., the Incident Commander reported the vehicle blocking the westbound lane had been moved to the shoulder and the lane would be reopening in the next 20 minutes. At 3:55 p.m., the Incident Commander said the roadway was now clear.
An air ambulance responded to the scene and Highway 20 was blocked both ways while the first responders extracted the occupants and cleared the roadway.
