At approximately 10:55 a.m. today two trucks collided near the intersection of Biggar Lane and Highway 162 in Covelo. The California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicated a red truck struck a gray truck resulting in the one vehicle on its roof and the other on its side
Officer Nathan Bjork of the CHP Garberville Office confirmed the collision resulted in minor injuries. He also told us that a second traffic collision where one vehicle rear-ended another occurred nearby the truck collision resulting in no injuries.
Initial reports of the incident described one of the parties associated with the vehicle running into the nearby Round Valley Indian Health Center in the moments after colliding.
Officer Bjork characterized the Highway 162 and Biggar Lane intersection where the collisions occured as a major intersection that is highly-trafficked. Despite this high volume of travelers, the intersection is only a two way stop leaving drivers at risk of these sorts of incidents.
How or who can make this be a 4 way stop intersection?
