At approximately 4:13 p.m. two vehicles collided head-on near the intersection of Highway 20 and Marina Drive requiring the closure of the eastbound lane Highway 20. One patient is reportedly deceased and two of the others are suffering moderate to minor injuries.

An air ambulance has been requested to the scene and one of the patients is requiring extrication for the vehicle. The Incident Commander requested additional units respond to the scene because “a lotta help” is need for the extrication.

The CHP Incident Information page indicates a “long-term closure” will be required as a result of this accident.

The CalTrans Quickmap indicates the eastbound lane of Highway 20 has slowed to a crawl.

  1. The locals have no idea how to drive(in the rain?). Is what’s causing this. I was in Ukiah today and a lady driving southbound on State St. was using the northbound #1 lane as a turn lane turning eastbound on Talmage Dr. Something happens to the brains around here when (it rains?). It’s come to a point where I will plan ahead an not travel in wet weather.

  2. Sitting here waiting for the highway to open up so I can go home. Sitting here thinking how lucky I am to be sitting here waiting. Somebody’s heart is breaking because somebody died in the crash that shut down the highway. Somebody had to be extracted out of a vehicle and someone is injured bad enough to be life flighted. And I am thanking God I am able to sit here waiting.
