[UPDATE: Fatality] Vehicle Burns After Descending Embankment off Highway 1 Near Albion

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate a vehicle has caught fire after traveling 40 feet down an embankment off of Highway 1 north of Albion.

The vehicle reportedly landed on its roof and is being reported as “fully involved.”

The Incident Commander reported the fire was successfully knocked down and crews were working to make entrance into the vehicle.

UPDATE 4:36 p.m.: Extra resources have been requested to respond to the traffic collision. The vehicle is reportedly 200 feet down an embankment in deep vegetation.

UPDATE 4:48 p.m.: The Incident Commander has reported that an individual has died as a result of this traffic collision. A Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office coroner has been requested to the scene.
