[UPDATE: Subject Located] Hunter Reportedly Goes Missing Near Covelo After Separating from Trail Buddy, Temperatures Predicted to Drop Near Freezing

Scanner traffic since approximately 8:25 p.m. indicates Mendocino County Sheriff deputies responded to Covelo after a hiker was reported missing in the 3000 block of Airport Road.

The missing female hiker, whose name we will withhold, reportedly was mushroom hunting with a friend when they got separated, and she has yet to emerge from the woods. She was reportedly wearing a backpack.

A responding deputy reported personnel are at the scene on foot searching for the hiker.

Note, tonight’s forecast predicts temperatures will drop to 38° F.

UPDATE 9:37 p.m.: At approximately 9:10 p.m., a deputy on the scene reported the missing hiker had been located.

  1. Is a mushrooming person actually called a hunter? I guess I am a NASCAR driver if I went down Sherwood Rd. during commute hours. Which is a half hour in Willits.
