A motorcyclist died Thursday night around 11:00 p.m. after colliding with another vehicle near the intersection of Fort Bragg’s East Pine Street and North Corry Street.

Fort Bragg Police Department’s Captain O’Neal told us from the scene that witnesses described the motorcyclist driving at excessive rates of speed before losing control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued forward after the collision and collided with a house. This motorcyclist, who is known to FBPD, was deceased before the ambulance arrived, Captain O’Neal explained.

Also, Captain O’Neal said there was a firearm located on the deceased motorcyclists’ person, but as of last night, there was no indication it had been used for anything before the crash occurred.

Scanner traffic a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Coroner was requested to the scene.

For those affected by this tragedy, we wish you peace and comfort as you grieve.
