[UPDATE: Pictures]Vehicle Found in Creek Along Highway 101 Near Bell Springs Requiring Air Ambulance and Lane Closures

About 6:11 a.m., a driver in a big rig observed a pickup that had gone off Hwy 101 and about 100 feet over the bank and into water near Bell Springs Road. Emergency personnel requested an air ambulance for the occupant.

According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, northbound traffic is being diverted into the southbound and eventually both directions may need to be closed.

The Ford F150 has major front-end damage.

The number 2 or outside northbound lane is shut down for retrieval of the vehicle as of around 7:40 a.m.

UPDATE 8:53 am.: The CHP Traffic Incident Information page indicates both the #1 and #2 lanes northbound Highway 101 have been closed as crews work to extricate the vehicle from down the embankment.

  1. Surely there has been some discovery since then?

    Was there anyBODY inside? I feel like there must have been or they would not have the LifeFlight Copter there.

  2. Sounds like someone dumped a vehicle. Wish they would follow up on this. I alway go down and check when I see a vehicle off the road to see if anyone needs help. I photograph old cars rusting away in the bushes.
