Alleged Armed Robbery in Clearlake—Getaway Car Collides With Another—Suspects Flee the Scene

Categories:

This situation is fluid, and the information is based on scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page, but a fast-moving situation is developing in Lake County that began with an armed robbery, then a dangerous getaway, a traffic collision, and finally suspects fleeing the scene.

Scanner traffic indicated that around 5:00 p.m. two black male adults committed an armed robbery at a business near the intersection of Highway 53 and West 40th Avenue in Clearlake.

Subsequent scanner traffic and the CHP Traffic Incident Information page indicated the two suspects fled the incident driving a black BMW, weaving in lanes, nearly colliding with oncoming traffic, and finally near the intersection of State Route 29 and the Spruce Grove exit the vehicle overturned.

At that point, the two suspects reportedly fled the scene of the collision after a red SUV driven by a female picked them up and sped off. Some sort of drugs or alcohol and stolen property were located in the getaway vehicle.

UPDATE 7:18 p.m.: Multiple social media users are shedding light on the nature of the drugs at the scene: several pounds of cannabis in plastic bags were reportedly in the vehicle and spread over the roadway.
