The Northern Sonoma County town of Healdsburg has illuminated their iconic Healdsburg Avenue Bridge in blue and gold “as a show of peace, solidarity, and support for the people of Ukraine”, as per a post on their Facebook page.
Healdsburg’s Mayor Osvaldo Jimenez encouraged the town’s City Council and the City of Healdsburg to show their public support for Ukraine in a manner similar to the Eifel Tower in Paris, the Empire State Building in New York City, and the Los Angeles City Hall, among dozens of other landmarks around the globe. The eyes of the world are currently on Ukraine as Russia attempts to gain control of territory they consider theirs within the Ukrainian borders by military force.
Drone photographer Tom Rennie saw a picture of the illuminated at ground level. Having taken aerial photographs of the bridge in the past, Rennie “immediately thought this would be a great opportunity to view The City of Healdsburg’s message of solidarity from the air.”
Press Democrat photographer Kent Porter photographed the bridge using his practiced lens to capture the brilliance of the colors in the Sonoma County nighttime:
