The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office this week donated 15 surplus ballistic vests to Ukraine.

The older vests will be picked up by the California Office of Emergency Services (CAL-OES) as part of a statewide effort to provide Ukrainian individuals and families with an added layer of safety.

The humanitarian effort is focused on residents staying in the Ukraine and those refugees fleeing into surrounding countries.

Law Enforcement agencies from across the state are coordinating with CAL-OES and the California National Guard to help save lives.
