Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page indicate a single vehicle collided with a tree around 7:14 p.m. off the northbound lane of Highway 101 south of Hopland. The vehicle reportedly descended an embankment approximately 50 feet resulting in a “walking wounded” party.

Reportedly, a witness described the vehicle passing unsafely before the collision occurred.

Another witness described watching one of the involved “throwing unknown items out of the vehicle into bushes after” the traffic collision.

UPDATE 8:00 p.m.: This reporter went to check out the scene and it looked as if a sobriety test was being conducted by CHP.

Scanner traffic indicated first responders were having difficulty locating anything in the bushes that might have been ditched by the driver as originally reported.

Traffic is not impeded in the area.
