Firefighters are currently responding to the 200 block of North Sanderson Way in Fort Bragg where a kitchen fire is actively spreading into the living room and the attic. Fire crews are reportedly shutting down North Sanderson Way
Initial reports indicated a neighbor called in a kitchen fire burning at 208 Sanderson Way with flames actively showing.
The Incident Commander is reporting that there is a fire hydrant directly in front of the home.
Scanner traffic indicates an individual that is associated with the residence is a known 5150, meaning code for a person suffering from a psychiatric condition.
UPDATE 8:38 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported to dispatch the fire could possibly be the result of arson.
UPDATE 8:41 p.m.: The fire originated as a 3’x3′ blaze on the floor of the kitchen.
UPDATE 9:08 p.m.: Investigators at the scene have determined that the fire was not in fact an act of arson.
UPDATE 9:32 p.m.: The fire is out, the damage to the structure was limited.
