At approximately 11:03 a.m. today, a vegetation fire near Sonoma County’s Sears Point ignited and grew to 15-acres in size before crews halted forward progress.
Initial reports detailed a 3 to 5-acre blaze growing at a moderate rate of spread along San Pablo Bay. California Highway Patrol responded to the area to assist with traffic control. Both air and ground firefighters from the CAL FIRE Lake-Napa-Sonoma unit were deployed and by noon had the fire under 20% containment.
Alert Wildfire Camera footage from across the San Pablo Bay captured the smoke wafting throughout the region.
The Sears Fire comes less than twenty-four hours after the Old Fire in Napa County which swelled to 570 acres in size yesterday afternoon.
there. is no good time for any fire but i guess its better now than a couple weeks from now when nascar visits sears point for their annual races
