As the Mendocino County Library works toward the completion of the new Laytonville Branch, we will be offering Pop-Up Library Days with our Outreach van the first and third Saturdays of the month beginning August 6th and running through December 3rd. Pop-Up library hours will be on site at the Laytonville Branch from 11am – 2pm, weather permitting.

Upcoming special events planned include:

  • August 20th – Pick up your origami take and make kit
  • September 3rd – A special visit by the Bookmobile
  • September 17th – Children’s Story Time with Sam!

Please join us at our Pop-Up Library and browse our collection of honor library books for adult, teens, and children (no card needed to check out!), large type books, DVDs, and audiobooks. You may sign up for a library card and connect with knowledgeable library staff to receive book recommendations and get your questions answered. Peak through the windows and watch the Laytonville Branch Library take shape!

As someone who grew up in Laytonville, I didn’t get to experience having a public library in our town. Now, we get to inspire a new generation to discover the wonder that a local library brings to a community! – Jayma Shields Spence, Director Laytonville Healthy Start & Friends of the Long Valley Public Library

The opening of the Laytonville Branch Library is supported by the Friends of the Long Valley Public Library and by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Community Facilities Grant Program. The grand opening of Laytonville Branch is planned for January of 2023!

The Pop-Up was wonderful! In addition to the items mentioned, they also have books in Spanish! It was a treat to meet the staff members; they are so knowledgeable. We can’t wait to see them on a more regular basis. – Shawn Haven, Friends Volunteer Coordinator

The Laytonville Branch is located at 44960 N. Highway 101, Suite D. For more information, please visit www.mendolibrary.org or contact the Mendocino County Cultural Services Agency at 234-2873.
