The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 11/05/2022 at approximately 2335 hours, Party #1, (Pending) was driving a 1990 Toyota 4-Runner (Vehicle #1) northbound on SR-53, approximately .7 miles south of SR-20, at an unknown speed. For reasons yet to be determined, P-1 drove off the east road edge of SR-53 and lost control of Vehicle #1. Vehicle #1 drove back onto the roadway, crossing over the northbound and southbound lanes of traffic, and rolled off the west road edge of SR-53, and continued overturning down an embankment, ejecting Party #1. As a result of the crash, the driver of Vehicle #1 sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased upon arrival. Party #1 was not wearing their seat-belt at the time of the crash. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in the cause of this crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Officer H. Child. Identification of Party #1 is pending due to notification of next of kin.
