Scanner traffic and the California Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate tragedy struck this evening after a vehicle veered off State Route 20 east of Fort Bragg resulting in at least one fatality.
The reporting party told dispatch they watched the vehicle go off the roadway. Upon arrival, first responders found the vehicle overturned and a deceased subject inside. Emergency responders are searching the area around the vehicle for any other potential victims.
Personnel on the scene are requesting a rope rescue system to transport the deceased party to the roadway above.
UPDATE 8:31 p.m.: First responders at scene have confirmed the vehicle had just a single occupant and are preceding with arranging the vehicle to be towed.
