One person is dead after two vehicles collided head-on earlier this morning near Lower Lake and State Route 29 remains closed as officials investigate the crash and clear the roadway.

Initially reported at 6:39 a.m., a Toyota Highlander and Dodge Ram reportedly collided near the intersection of State Route 29 and Ridge Road in front of the DNA Rock Quarry.

When emergency personnel got on the scene, they encountered two patients out of their vehicles with moderate injuries and one trapped, critically injured patient requiring extrication. Tragically, that party succumbed to their injuries.

An air ambulance was requested to the scene but declined due to weather.

  1. It was caused by the Dodge Ram crossing over into their lane. This was from someone in the car. The deceased was a well loved employee of Pogo’s Pizza and adoptive mother of a foster child.
