THE HOG FARM HIDEAWAY music festival will take place June 9-11 at the legendary Black Oak Ranch in Laytonville, California. The event is presented by an independent, women-owned production company called Shooting Star Events. As part of the lead-up to this exciting event, the producers are taking the opportunity during Women’s History Month to shine a spotlight on the many strong women who are involved on the stage and behind the scenes.

Tamara Klamner, festival co-producer, explains, “We take great care in booking the 30+ bands that will be performing at the festival. We are proud to have so many incredible female artists included in the line-up.”

The Rainbow Girls are an eclectic folk trio, Vanessa May, Erin Chapin, and Caitlin Gowdey, who seamlessly combine soul-touching harmonies, vari-textured instrumentals, and poignant, lyrical content into a beautiful sonic tapestry.

Lindsay Lou has been making soulful, poignant music for the last decade. An undeniable powerhouse, Lou’s remarkable gifts as a singer, songwriter, musician, and performer demand the listener’s attention. Born the daughter of a coal miner and the granddaughter of a Rainbow Gathering healer, Lindsay Lou grew up with a room in her heart for both blue-collar grit and mystical mind expansion.

Two Runner: Paige Anderson and Emilie Rose comprise the rising modern folk duo. Hailing from Northern California, their music embodies the hills they grew up in. Through the mediums of clawhammer banjo, flatpicking guitar, vocal harmonies, and oldtime fiddle, Two Runner puts a hip take on the Appalachian feel.

Also on the line-up are The T Sisters, Elliottt Peck, Jilian Nershi, Alice DiMicele, Hayley Jane, Stephanie Salva, Kim Trenerry and Mei Lin Heirendt. Check out the festival website for more info on these amazing female artists.

Shooting Star Events is one of the few festival promoters in the country owned by women. “I have been inspired by some powerful women in the music industry, where for the most part, women are sorely underrepresented. At the Hog Farm Hideaway, we are proud to have cultivated an incredible team of talented women to help run our production”, says Biasha Michell festival co-producer.
