A traffic collision involving a reported group of erratically driving motorcycles prompted an assault in Covelo this afternoon. First responders are currently converging on the scene.

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page indicate the collision occurred around 6:22 p.m. near the intersection of Tabor Lane and Henderson Lane.

A reporting party relayed to dispatch the motorcyclists were driving up and down the road erratically before the accident occurred.

The CHP Incident Information page states a reporting party from the scene told dispatch her daughter had been assaulted by an involved subject.

The dispatcher relayed to responding officers that an involved subject is threatening to kill the parties in the other vehicle if they report the incident to law enforcement.

Fire and medical personnel have been asked to stage before going to the scene so law enforcement could secure the area from any potential threats.
