One person is tragically dead this morning after a traffic accident near the intersection of Highway 101 and State Route 253 just south of Ukiah.

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicated the accident occurred around 9:39 a.m. when the vehicle reportedly veered off the roadway causing major rollover damage. Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle was swerving into other lanes before the accident.

When emergency personnel got to the scene, they located one person who had succumbed to their injuries and another that was rushed to the Ukiah hospital and transported out of the area via air ambulance.
