Two vehicles collided this morning near Highway 101 and State Route 253, igniting a grass fire and at least one vehicle to erupt in flames.
Originally reported around 10:21 a.m. a silver truck reportedly collided with a small red sedan. Both vehicles were apparently driving erratically before the incident occurred.
One vehicle rolled after the collision and within five minutes lit on fire which spread to nearby grass.
An air ambulance was requested to meet medics at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley to transport one patient out of the area.
Fire personnel converged on the scene and successfully suppressed the flames. By 11:18 a.m., the Incident Commander reported the fires were under control.
That’s not between Ukiah and Hopland. That’s just Ukiah, South Ukiah.
This took place just at the south end of Ukiah. So close to 253. That is the 3rd accident in that area in the last week or so. There were 2 fatalities on the other side of the freeway.
People speed on State street in Ukiah all the time. There is very little traffic law enforcement in Ukiah Valley. There are no legal consequences for speeding in Ukiah Valley. Speeders get away with it until there is a tragic accident. Enforcement of speeding laws would save lives.
