A wildfire known as the “Ryan Incident” is burning north of Willits near Ryan Creek Road.
Reports as of 7:00 p.m. indicate the fire is three acres in size, growing at a moderate rate of spread, burning in grass, and one structure approximately one-half mile from the fire could be threatened.
An air resource reported at 7:06 p.m. that a drop of fire retardant had slowed the fire’s forward progress.
The initial dispatch came out around 6:50 p.m. requesting both air and ground resources respond to the 30000 block of Ryan Creek Road after multiple callers reported the smoke column.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office issued the following situational awareness alert about the incident:
MCSO Nixle alert: Situational Awareness: Wildfire in the WILLITS area, near N HWY 101/RYAN CREEK RD, No further action needed at this time, Use caution and avoid the area. We will publish updates to mendoready.org as more information becomes available.
UPDATE 7:18 p.m.: Fire resources are being released from the incident as reports from the sky indicate the fire’s active flames are diminishing.
The Incident Commander relayed that Highway 101 is congested with firefighting vehicles.
