A wildfire is burning in Ukiah this evening with the latest updates indicating firefighters are still working to gain control of the flames as strong gusts of wind spread the flames.
The fire ignited around 5:31 p.m. near the 1300 block of Masonite Road. By 6:00 p.m., the fire reportedly had grown to four acres with the potential to grow to 10 acres.
As of 6:14 p.m., the fire is reportedly sending spots to the northeast of the initial ignition area.
UPDATE 6:27 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicates firefighters are starting to make progress on controlling the fire’s spread. Firefighters have what is being described as a “rough perimeter” around the fire but has yet to be controlled.

UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: The fire’s forward progress has been stopped. Scanner traffic indicates firefighters are combing the burn area extinguishing hotspots.

Thought I read forward progress stopped
Thank you to all the fire agencies that responded to this fire. It could have been a disaster if it had crossed the river. The quick response and multiple agencies make all the difference.
