Yesterday at about 2:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a call of a gunshot victim in the 21000 block of Moscow Road, Monte Rio. They found a deceased gunshot victim. The suspect, later identified as Joseph Douchette, 41, Monte Rio, was last seen walking near the property.

More deputies responded to search for the suspect, including the SWAT team. A shelter in place order was issued while deputies searched for him. Ultimately, deputies found Douchette walking in the 21000 block of Mesa Grande Terrace, Monte Rio. He was arrested without incident at about 3:30 p.m. and the shelter in place order was lifted. Deputies later found the gun they believe was used to kill the victim.

Douchette was booked into the Main Adult Detention Facility for murder and an outstanding felony warrant. He is being held without bail.

The victim’s identity will be released when it is available.

  1. Put the piece of crap away for life. NO PAROLE! Probably another “miscreant” suffering from the alleged “disease” of drugs. He’ll be out in five years.

    • Have any examples of convicted 1st/2nd degree murderers released within 5yrs?

Or is your apathy the only filter you’re able to see thru?

    • How can you write that when you don’t know the victim nor the perpetrator I know? Both and I know for a fact that the victim was a piece of s*** and probably instigated what happened. So before you know all the facts before anybody knows all the facts. One should not ask judgment at all. The victim got away with murdering 2 women, one of which he kept locked up. He was the lowest of the got what was coming from karma. Unfortunately, a good man get it. And it was probably self-defense with Chris’s own gun.
