Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a Dos Rios woman with dementia who walked away from her home this evening and has not returned.
A social media post issued on the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page states Vicky Stewart walked away from her home wearing “a brown plaid shirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes.”
Scanner traffic indicates the search for Stewart began around 4:53 p.m. today after she walked away from her home described as being in the Dos Rios/Longvale area. Resources at the scene include a drone with thermal capabilities.
Scanner chatter indicated a photograph of Stewart was being circulated amongst first responders and an incident commander requested the image be published on social media. We will update the article if that photograph goes public.
UPDATE 7:49 p.m.: The following update was published on the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page:
"Cancel Situational Awareness: At risk missing person in the Dos Rios area, no further action needed at this time. The incident has been resolved and the alert is now canceled. Missing person Vicky Stewart has been located."
