A coroner has been dispatched to an ocean-side cliff near the Mendocino coastal town of Point Arena after a man reportedly fell to his death this evening.

Scanner traffic began around 4:50 p.m. when a reporting party told dispatch they had witnessed a man fall off a cliff while walking his dog.

First responders were in the area by 5:00 p.m. attempting to resuscitate the subject with CPR.

Sonoma County’s Henry 1 helicopter was deployed to the scene for air rescue but was canceled by 5:07 p.m. when the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

We have reached out to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office for more details.

  1. I don’t mean to sound cold but I am a dog mom and every time I see anything involving a dog, I wish to know what happened to the dog. Obviously, the man loved his dog. Where is the dog, reporters? c’mon. Don’t leave your readers hanging. This just causes anxiety.
