The Deep Valley Arts Collective is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a General Operating Support Grant of $51,000 from the California Arts Council during its final grant cycle of 2023.

Deep Valley Arts Collective was featured as part of a larger announcement from the California Arts Council, with more than 850 grant awards totaling more than $32.75 million in projected investments for operational and project support to nonprofit organizations and government units throughout California.

The nearly $33 million in awards for the 2023 grant cycle sets a new record for the state arts agency’s investment in California’s arts and culture workforce via permanent state and federal allocations for local assistance funds, upwards of $2.8 million more than its last record-setting year in 2020.

The organization intends to use the funds provided by this grant to hire an Executive Director who will manage the daily operations of the non-profit, thereby enhancing the support it provides to artists in Mendocino County. Hiring an Executive Director will also allow the organization to expand its art training programs, exhibitions, community involvement, and regular hours of operation.

Lillian Rubie, president of the Deep Valley Arts Collective says, “ We are so grateful for this opportunity to champion the arts in our community further. We have had so many great ideas for how we can increase opportunities for art programming and community building, but have limited availability to bring them to fruition because we have all been doing the work as volunteers in our off time. This will bring some much-needed focus and time to what we have lovingly fostered in our work over the last three years. We have big plans for the future of the arts in Ukiah, and we are thrilled!”
