Check Out This Drone Footage of the Russian River in Hopland Swollen From Recent Rains

Categories:

A recent rain event inundated the North Coast and a Mendocino County amateur drone photographer managed to capture footage of the Hopland stretch of the Russian River that demonstrated how saturated the storms left the landscape.

Hopland resident Vince Martinez runs the Instagram page cap.ture707 to share his exploration of drone photography. After the recent storms, Martinez was determined to checkout the Russian River Bridge which lies on State Route 175 in the middle of Sanel Valley.

“I grew up in Hopland and have lived here most my life. I have always loved the rainy season because of this bridge”, he said. He recalled annual floods, the roar of moving water, and having “always wanted to see an aerial view of the bridge during these floods and I was finally able to do that.”

When he was on site piloting above the turbid, fast moving waters of the Russian River, he could hear the sounds of water flowing past. ” He took note of the “the amount of water rushing past this bridge. It always makes me feel so small compared to the amount of water roaring past it.”

If you appreciate Martinez’s eye for nature’s dramatic moments, make sure to follow his Instagram.
