Yesterday, February 13, 2024, an unidentified 90-year-old man from Kelseyville lost his life in a fatal collision on State Route 29 (SR-29) north of Seigler Canyon Road.

According to a press release from the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 6:30 AM, the elderly pedestrian, identified as Party #1, was walking eastbound on SR-29, traversing from the northbound #1 lane to the northbound #2 lane. Meanwhile, 44-year-old Antonio Ceja was operating a 2024 Kenworth semi-truck, heading northbound on SR-29 at Seigler Canyon Road in the #2 lane at a speed of 55 mph.

As Ceja approached the location of the pedestrian, CHP reported the elderly man continued walking eastbound directly into the path of the oncoming big rig. Ceja was unable to react in time to avoid the collision. The left front of the semi-truck collided with the pedestrian, resulting in fatal injuries.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has initiated an investigation into the incident and the identification of the deceased pedestrian is pending.

  1. ?Condolences. This is so sad. A very tragic end for one of our elders.

Prayers for the deceased’s family, and for the driver of the semi, who must also be traumatized.
