Authorities have confirmed that a high-speed vehicle pursuit along the Mendocino County coast ended in a crash near Fort Bragg’s Taco Bell this afternoon. The suspect was taken into custody after a foot pursuit and emergency personnel are securing the scene of the accident.

Fort Bragg Police Department Captain Thomas O’Neal told us the incident began this afternoon near the small Mendocino Coast town of Westport when a California State Parks officer initiated after the suspect ran through a Caltrans stop sign.

Based on initial information gathered from responding officers, Captain O’Neal told us that California Highway Patrol Officers deployed a spike strip near the Pudding Creek Bridge north of Fort Bragg blowing out the suspect’s tires after which he continued south. At that point, State Parks chose to cancel the pursuit

After entering Fort Bragg, Captain O’Neal confirmed the suspect was “involved in a collision near Taco Bell” causing no injuries, only property damage, and “took off running”. Hazardous conditions were reported at the scene after fluids had reportedly leaked from the vehicle.

Fort Bragg Police Officers proceeded to assist in the foot pursuit and “apprehended the suspect a block away.”

The suspect is in custody and police and emergency personnel are still “processing the scene”, according to Captain O’Neal. He told us he will follow up as more information becomes available.

  1. I’m very sure this guy was politically motivated when he ran from the police… I think that we have some brain washed people here… Drugs and alcohol are ruining communities, families and people. Let’s get our minds out of the political gutter. Fox and CNN don’t need your ratings, come back to reality. I live in Fort Bragg and it’s fortunate that he didn’t seriously hurt or kill somebody.
