Boil Water Alert for Point Cabrillo Highlands After Wind-Triggered Main Break

Users of the Point Cabrillo Highlands water system on the Mendocino County Coast are under a Boil Water Notice (BWN) following a main break incident attributed to strong winds.

The system affected by this Boil Water Noice was built specifically to service the facilities associated with the historical Point Cabrillo lighthouse.

The notice, affecting all 21 service connections within the system, was issued by Mendocino County Public Health on May 9, 2024, at 8:00 AM local time. Specific connections impacted can be obtained by contacting the Point Cabrillo Highlands water system directly.

The Public Water System Name/Number affected is Point Cabrillo Highlands (2300668). The notice remains active until repairs are completed, the system is sanitized, and follow-up sampling confirms two consecutive days of clean samples. The expected resolution date is May 14, 2024, at 12:00 PM.

Details regarding medical and food facility connections impacted are currently unknown.
