Fire on Sherwood Road Destroys Multiple Structures

Fire crews are battling multiple structures on fire in the Longvale area between Laytonville and Willits after a structure fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. on May 22.

According to scanner traffic multiple structures are on fire and some have “burned to the ground.”

The Alert California camera labeled ‘Longvale 2’ shows a fire engine near the structures partially blocked by the heavy black smoke. The structures located in the 35000 block of Sherwood Road appear to be located in an open field but surrounded by woodlands.

It appears that fire crews have knocked down the blaze at this time.

Update 2:08 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, the fire is contained. The incident commander estimates that mop-up of the fire will take 2-3 hours.

    • Actually, that is the Hart Ranch, immediately south of the Sagehorn Ranch. I haven’t been there in years, but I grew up on that ranch and I know those buildings in the image.
