An American flag raised this last weekend during a Memorial Day ceremony at 90 South Main Street has been reported missing. The flag was hoisted at 10 a.m. on Sunday during a ceremony organized by the American Legion, Willits Boy Scouts, Willits Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Willits.
Hundreds of community members attended the event, which featured bagpipes playing “Amazing Grace” and a stirring rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The ceremony also served as a prelude to the 42nd Annual Willits Car and Bike Show.
The flag’s disappearance was discovered early Tuesday morning, May 28, 2024, the day after Memorial Day. The incident has sparked outrage and disappointment within the community.
“This is a dishonor to the principles it represents and a disheartening act against our community’s spirit. Our community stands together in solidarity and will not let this act of disrespect diminish our pride and dedication to honoring our heroes. This flag was a tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedoms and its absence is deeply felt by all,” said a community member.
The Willits Police Department has been notified, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward by calling WPD at (707)459-6122.

There is no Boy Scouts anymore!
It is now called Scouting America after law suits and allows all 87 genders into the tent.
Boys can no longer be boys.
They can still be boys, they just can’t be misogynistic ignorant bigoted boys.
I’m not sure if that is true but it would not surprise me that is for certain.That said and for some odd reason I don’t really care either way. I guess it’s just the new normal aspect of it.
As far as the flag goes it will most likely end up at one or another of the pro Hamas and or Palestine protest and be torched by the marxist loons.
Stealing the American Flag ?? is pretty low. No matter who did it, they are a thief and I hope they are caught!
I just drove past the veterans memorial building in willits & noticed a flag wedged in the door handles. Maybe the stolen flag was returned or someone donated it. Either way there’s a flag there for them.
