As part of our commitment to providing customers with safe and reliable electric service, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will be conducting important safety work at our Willits Substation on Saturday, June 22. The work involves the upgrade and replacement of equipment and will require that the substation to be deenergized to ensure the safety of PG&E employees conducting work. As a result, PG&E will need to temporarily suspend power to approximately 6,000 customers in the Willits area between the hours of 11:30 PM and 5:30 AM.
Beginning in late May, PG&E began notifying customers impacted by the planned outage by phone, text and email to ensure that they could plan accordingly. PG&E also notified critical customers in advance, including hospitals and first responders, to ensure the proper resources were in place to support their work.
This safety work was originally scheduled for May, but with feedback and input from stakeholders, PG&E was able to reschedule the work and planned outage to ensure ample notification to critical customers.
All customers that will be impacted by the outage have been notified and below is a map of the impacted areas:
