A wildfire dubbed the “Apache Fire” near the Butte County community of Palermo has burned more than 673 acres and is 15% contained.
Two structures were destroyed as the fire exploded last night according to CAL FIRE Butte County’s Incident Update. The cause of the fire remains under investigation
Despite the extensive damage, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
A total of 198 personnel are on scene, including 26 engine and truck companies, five fire crews, four water tenders, and seven bulldozers. No helicopters or air tankers are currently deployed, and two volunteer companies are assisting in the efforts.
Crews are working directly on the fire, employing bulldozers, crews, and hose lays to control the blaze. Additional resources are being dispatched to bolster the firefighting operation.
The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has issued evacuation orders for zones 865, 868, 869, 884, 885, 886, and 887. Evacuation warnings are in place for zones 867 and 883. Grubbs Road and all intersecting roads and cross streets in the area are closed to traffic.
