The community of Redwood Valley was abuzz last month when on June 26, 2024, an outfit of law enforcement personnel converged on a Laughlin Way property. Eyewitnesses reported seeing SWAT vehicles and what appeared to be multiple agencies involved.
Our reporting at the time confirmed Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency were assisting the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms with the arrest of a potentially dangerous criminal.
Yesterday, exactly who the alleged criminal residing at the Redwood Valley residence came to light: 32-year-old Tampa resident Mohamed “Mo” Nidal Jaber.
As told by the United States Department of Justice Attorney Roger B Handberg from the Middle District of Florida, Jaber is no run-of-the-mill guerilla grower one might expect in rural Mendocino County.
Instead, Jaber allegedly is a cannabis broker, robbery suspect, and key member of a multi-state criminal street gang based in Tampa, Florida accused of engaging in narcotics distribution, bank fraud, obstruction of justice, and violent crimes such as assault, robbery, arson, and even murder.
Jaber and five others face indictment for their involvement in the criminal enterprise known as Alexander Park or “AP” operating in Florida’s Hillsborough County and beyond. Their activities extended beyond Florida to states like Oregon, California, and Michigan.
Amy Filjones, the Public Affairs Specialist with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Florida confirmed that Jaber was arrested in Mendocino County two weeks ago as a result of the raid in Redwood Valley.
Court documents reveal that the Northern District of California United States Magistrate
signed a search warrant on June 25, 2024, for the Jaber’s Redwood Valley residence.
When authorities executed the warrant, they found, “74 Totes containers with 300 pounds of marijuana inside, approximately $7,000 in cash, what appeared to be drug ledgers and high-end jewelry.”
Beyond Redwood Valley, Mohamed Nidal Jaber, also known as “Mo,” is facing a slew of serious allegations after an extensive investigation reportedly uncovered his involvement in various violent crimes linked to the Alexander Park street gang in Hillsborough County.
Authorities claim Jaber’s friend was shot and killed by a rival gang member in the parking lot of Scores Gentlemen’s Club on April 17, 2022.* Jaber’s vehicle, which was struck by gunfire during the shootout, was impounded for evidence. A search of the vehicle revealed two firearms and a .40 caliber bullet casing, with Jaber’s DNA found on both guns.
Just six days later, a member of the Latin Kings gang, was murdered in a strip mall parking lot in Hillsborough County. Surveillance footage captured a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee, from which three masked individuals exited and fired multiple rounds into A.H.’s car. Authorities assert that one of the .40 caliber casings recovered from the scene matched a casing found in Jaber’s vehicle from the Scores Gentlemen’s Club shooting.
Authorities claim to have amassed substantial evidence against Jaber in a recent racketeering indictment. The evidence includes text messages, social media posts, business records, GPS tracker data, ballistics comparisons, and witness testimony.
In one instance, a text exchange from April 2021 between Jaber and co-defendant Christian Andujar Rivera detailed efforts to obtain information on a rival gang member’s girlfriend. Shortly after the rival gang member was shot, and a GPS tracker was found on his vehicle. Tracker data indicated the presence of GPS devices paid for by Rivera and co-defendant Julissa Collazo near the rival gang member’s residences before the shooting.
In another case, Jaber and other AP members, including Rivera and Irving Diego Bruzon, allegedly were involved in an armed home invasion in Monterey, California in 2021. During the robbery, law enforcement said Jaber held a fork to a female resident’s throat, facilitating the theft of approximately 100 pounds of marijuana.
In 2021, Jaber and two of his co-defendants allegedly burglarized a cannabis warehouse in Oregon making off with 300 pounds of product.
Court documents allege that in January 2022, Jaber and other AP members tracked two individuals in southern Florida using GPS devices. After tracking these individuals, Jaber and the other AP members reportedly unsuccessfully attempted a home break-in and later stole $50,000 worth of merchandise and marijuana from the victims’ business. Video footage gathered by investigators is purported to show Jaber and his associates distributing the stolen items at his residence.
Jaber and his five co-defendants await an arraignment scheduled for July 23, 2024, in Tampa. Kirk Howard, Special Agent in Charge with the ATF-Tampa Field Division, reassured the public at a press conference yesterday morning that, “the Alexander Park gang is no longer in business.”
*The year of the Scores Gentlemen’s Club club homicide and the retaliatory killing six days later is erroneously written in the criminal indictment as 2023. Several media outlets confirm the shootings occurred in 2022.
