Point Cabrillo Light Station State Historic Park will offer Lighthouse Lens Tours on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to climb to the top of Mendocino’s historic lighthouse, stand next to the 1909 Fresnel Lens, and enjoy stunning views of the Mendocino coastline. The tours, led by volunteer docents from the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association, occur only a few times a year.
The cost for the tours is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 18. All children must be over 42 inches tall to climb the stairs. Babies and animals are not permitted on the tour. Guests should be prepared to climb three sets of steep ladders and make a half-mile walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse. Tours last between 20 to 40 minutes and are first-come, first-serve, with no reservations accepted. The first tour starts at 11 a.m., and the last ticket will be sold at 2 p.m.
All funds raised from the tours go towards maintaining the park. For more information, visit pointcabrillo.org/events or contact the office at 707-937-6123 or info@pointcabrillo.org.
