A body was recovered from the waters of Fort Bragg’s Noyo Harbor this afternoon after what appears to have been a suicide from the Noyo Bridge, according to an eyewitness account.

United States Coast Guard personnel were seen converging on the location beneath the bridge to retrieve the body. The witness also noted an abandoned bicycle on the bridge directly above the area where the body was found, along with police and medical personnel on the scene.

The Fort Bragg Police Department has been contacted for confirmation and stated that a press release with more information is forthcoming.

The Noyo Bridge, which stands 110 feet above the water, is known for being a location where several individuals have ended their lives.

The Center for Disease Control cites barriers to health care, social isolation, and high rates of adverse childhood experiences as contributing factors to the heightened risk of suicide in the rural areas of the Emerald Triangle, including Mendocino County.

  1. Hi Matt. It would be great to include our local RCS Crisis number in subsequent articles: 855-838-0404

The easy National Suicide Crisis line is now 988. It will connect to our local resources.

    • Rcs is TERRIBLE. they have accountability issues and internal issues within staff. They have absolutely failed the community in so many ways.

      Hey RCS:
Why was Raymond Tyler released from your care if he was mentally unstable enough to directly go and commit suicide afterwards?

  2. I can relate to this soul. I have tricare and I can’t find a doctor in two counties that are taking new mental health patients.

  3. Honestly I seen this guy on the south side of the bridge, and find it extremely hard to believe that he took his own life he was always kind and outgoing, seemed like he a pretty good head on him. I don’t know. Very sad though.
